Frequently asked questions

I definitely don’t have all the answers, but I have a lot of experience in solving problems as they arise or preventing them before they can happen :-)
I have collated a few frequently asked questions in the hope that I can help you prevent any problems for your next shoot.

If you have any questions that you still need to ask please contact me and I will gladly answer them for you.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ

Yes, absolutely. I have travelled to Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana as well as many of the South African Provinces. If you would like more information about destination weddings, complete the form on the weddings page and let me know it’s a destination wedding :-).

I use Canon professional equipment and always have a backup :-)

Yes I do. My assistant helps me with my equipment and with my style of lighting on the day.

The following is just a rough guide and doesn’t include all the possibilities so please discuss your needs with me and I will work out a timing plan that will work for your specific needs.

  • 30 min for the decor at the reception
  • 40 – 60 min bridal prep and details – dress, shoes, getting ready and dressing
  • 30 min for bride and bridesmaids portraits
  • 30 – 40 min groom prep details – suit, shoes, getting ready and dressing
  • 30 min for groom and groomsmen portraits
  • 15 minutes for people arriving at the church and the groom standing in the aisle
  • 45 min to 1 hr for the ceremony
  • 20 min for family and group photos
  • 1.5Hrs for bridal party and couple photos

One thing to remember, the more time you have allocated for the different events on the day, the less you rush them.

COUPLE PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ

The session is a one hour shoot in my studio, at your home or at another location. If you would like a longer session we can definitely accommodate you. Longer sessions will enable you to have multiple wardrobe changes as well as multiple locations.

The most important thing is that you’re comfortable. Wear what you feel good in, as that will usually show through in the photos. Clothes with texture and colour are great – think about what would look interesting, and try to co-ordinate styles a bit if you’re doing a couple or family shoot. I would avoid patterns, dots, zigzags and logos which can all draw the focus away from you are a couple.

Although i have a studio, couple shoots are best done on location. A forest, open veld, the Johannesburg CBD – we can shoot your session anywhere you like.
I recommend scheduling your portrait shoot around 1.5 hrs before sunset as this time of day has the best light.

Nobody likes hidden costs so your shoot and the images outlined in the package you choose are included in the price. Some locations / venues do charge a fee for their use, but that will be discussed before we decide on a location for your shoot.

Along with our time spent shooting, we include editing time and burning or copying digital files to DVD. The DVD will include a hi-resolution folder for printing and lo-resolution folder with our logo for social media and sharing. If you decide to order additional items, those costs will be added to your order and itemised accordingly.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ

The best time for the shoot is within the first 7-10 days to get those amazing squishy / foldy baby shots. This is best done in the studio.

A good wipe of the little one’s face and body before you arrive is always recommended. That will clean off any flakey skin or baby powder that may be on his or her skin.
I like to book the shoot just after the babies normally feed time.
So if that is 10:30am, then I need you to be at my studio to start feeding the baby at 10:30am so that when the little one is full, he falls asleep and we can start the shoot.
It is more difficult if you feed at home and then drive over here as they will generally wake up and not be sleepy when we want to start.

And the best shots are when they are sleeping :-)

You can book a shoot by completing this form so we can sort out a date for your shoot.

Yes, please complete this form and I will email you the brochure with all the details.

BOUDOIR PHOTOGRAPHY FAQ

Images are never shared anywhere without your permission. I will ask for permission to use specific images and you have final say in exactly which images you choose to share.

If you have a stylish home with lots of natural light, that could work.
I feel the best option is to hire a hotel room and photograph your boudoir shoot there. That way, the “look” of the pictures is elegant and stylish and we have the use of a bedroom and bathroom so there are options available. Some locations even offer the use of the garden.

Absolutely! I give really easy to follow instructions so you will look your best.

If you would prefer a friend or family member to be present while you are being photographed you can certainly do that. Ideally a female friend as this is much more relaxing than bringing a guy.

The photographic session takes around 2 hours.

In general here are a few things that always work well:
– Sexy heels!
– 3 to 4 outfits – a mix of lingerie, special items like one of his shirts, etc
– Jewellery
– You can even bring some printed inspiration pages for poses if you’d like to :-)
